Attach document to workflow
+1Hello! I’m working on creating a new workflow. I found the option to add an External File as a custom field which helps for any document that’s not maintained inside Qualtrax. If i have a document already in our document tree that i’d like to attach to the workflow (in this case, it’s for a literature review assignment log), is it possible to make that connection without using an external file? Thank you!

Hey Heather!
Super easy to do this and you’re already 90% of the way there. When adding a field in a workflow, add a Document field instead of External File field. This will add a small window that looks right into your Document Tree and allows you to select the document directly.
Two extra tidbits:
- If needed for External File and Document fields, you can head to Admin > Custom Fields and check the box to allow multiple files.
- The Document field will save a snapshot of the current published revision, so when looking at the record in the future you’ll know which copy was being referenced.
