Hi All,
Does anyone know of a simple way to visually differentiate the Live & Training environments that we have access to?
I’m regularly testing changes in the Training environment before implementing them in the Live environment, but it’s very easy to mix them up when having both open simultaneously and switching between them.
The Training environment does show “training.<databaseID>.ideagenpulse.com” at the start of the URL in the browser’s address bar, but it’s a subtle difference. In the Windows Client, there’s no easy way to tell which database you’re in, as far as I can see (only via Help > About).
For the Web, being able to change the header banner colour would be all that’s needed. For the Client, I’m not sure what solution would be practical.
Thanks,
Martyn
Hey Martyn,
Whilst you can’t change the banner colour, one workaround I used religiously in my Service Delivery days was renaming the module names, for example, changing Documents to Training Documents (or T/Test/Sandbox etc. whatever naming convention works best for you).
You can do this in Admin Module > Customistion > Custom Fields.
Hope that helps but always keen to hear if anyone else has found other creative ways distinguish the environments.
Thanks,
Sam
Thanks Sam, that’s a great idea! We did rename one module as part of the original training, but that hadn’t occurred to me. That will certainly be helpful.
I have edited many of the e-mail templates in the Messaging area to prefix the subject line with [TRAINING]. This will help to differentiate any notifications that are sent out.
Thanks,
Martyn
